With just one month to go before the attraction opens its doors, the countdown to the launch of BOND WORLD 007 has started. Work is in full swing and the visuals and acoustics have made strides forward too. The final preparations for the June 29 Grand Public Opening with George Lazenby are well underway. The experience on the trip to Gimmelwald – Mürren – Birg and Piz Gloria starts at the new look valley station. The acoustics in the cable cars from Stechelberg to the summit are designed to attune passengers to their Alpine surroundings and set the mood for a visit to BOND WORLD 007. The entire Schilthorn Cableway team is working hard on the finishing touches of BOND WORLD 007 and particularly on the Grand Public Opening of 29 June 2013. Richard Kiel, the actor who played the iconic Jaws in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and MOONRAKER is set to visit the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu on Sunday 26th May.
Beaulieu’s Bond In Motion exhibition is the largest official collection of original James Bond vehicles in the world, and Richard will be there between 10.30am and 4pm, accompanied by Blanche Ravalec, who played his partner Dolly in MOONRAKER. Today, a train named after Bond film SKYFALL was unveiled at King’s Cross Station. It’s the first time a film has permanently given its name to a train. The East Coast London to Edinburgh service, train number 91007, has been renamed SKYFALL with each of its eleven carriages wrapped in SKYFALL artwork. Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, actress Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny) and writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were on the train’s maiden journey which departed platform 007 at King’s Cross at 8.33am. The first was for Outstanding British Film; director Sam Mendes, writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli were on hand to receive the award. Later in the ceremony, Composer Thomas Newman was honoured for his SKYFALL score.
A fleet of SKYFALL themed Aston Martins will be on hand for New York Fashion Week, providing fans and fashion press with complimentary transportation around Manhattan throughout the event. Wrapped in 007 livery, the cars’ on-board entertainment systems will also screen special features from the Blu-ray release of SKYFALL, the most successful British film of all time.
New York Fashion Week runs from Monday 11th Feb through to Thursday 14th Feb. SKYFALL is released on Blu-ray and DVD in the US from February 12th and February 18th in the UK. SKYFALL, the UK’s most successful film of all time, has been nominated for eight awards by The EE British Academy Film Awards. Nominations are Outstanding British Film (Sam Mendes, Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, John Logan), Supporting Actor (Javier Bardem), Supporting Actress (Judi Dench), Original Music (Thomas Newman), Cinematography (Roger Deakins), Editing (Stuart Baird), Production Design (Dennis Gassner, Anna Pinnock) and Sound (Stuart Wilson, Scott Millan, Greg P. Russell, Per Hallberg, Karen Baker Landers). “We are absolutely thrilled SKYFALL has received eight nominations from the British Academy,” said Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. “We thank everybody who has voted for SKYFALL and all those who have contributed to the film’s continuing success.” The Awards will take place on Sunday 10th February at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.
