The 23rd James Bond film "Skyfall" will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on March 12th, 2013, in the USA and Canada. Release dates for other countries are to be confirmed. The initial cover art uses the quad poster design, although this is subject to change.
VisitBritain, the official tourism and destination partner of SKYFALL, has launched its first film tourism ad. The Bond is GREAT Britain ad is out in cinemas around the world reminding people that there is no better time for them to come to Britain and explore the home of James Bond. For more information go to VisitBritain’s website. According to the official Beaulieu website, they have decided to extend the exhibition, originally intended to be on show between January and late December 2012, into January 2014.
BOND IN MOTION, here at the National Motor Museum, is the largest official collection of original James Bond vehicles anywhere in the world. After a successful first year, we are delighted to announce that the exhibition has been extended for a further year until 5th January 2014. The new James Bond videogame '007 Legends' had a satisfactory entry in the the UK sales charts, but has quickly descended out of the Top 20.
'007 Legends' entered the UK Top 40 Entertainment Software (all prices) chart on week ending October 20th at #12. Other new entries that week included "Doom 3: BFG Edition" at #5, and "Skylanders Giants", also from Activision, at #2. The split between Xbox 360 and PS3 sales were 51/49 in favour of the Microsoft platform. A week later, "007 Legends" slipped two places to #14, and then left the top 20 in its third week of release, slumping to #24. The market for first person shooters will be encompassed by the release of the new "Call of Duty" title this week. Unfortunately, official sales charts are not publicly released in the USA, but industry tracker VG Chartz estimates the game has sold 13,286 units in 3 weeks, which would make it the poorest performing 007 title in recent years. Reported by MI6-HQ Craig’s third Bond movie Skyfall is breaking box office records, but the 44-year-old Brit told The Sun he has had enough.
“I’ve been trying to get out of this from the very moment I got into it. But they won’t let me go, and I’ve agreed to do a couple more. But let’s see how this one does, because business is business and if the s*** goes down, I’ve got a contract that somebody will happily wipe their ass with. As reported last week, screenwriter John Logan will be writing the next two James Bond films. However, Daniel Craig tells the press that the two stories will not be linked and even if they are, they would not be shot back-to-back like the last two Harry Potter films or the last Back To The Future film. “No, I don’t know where that’s come from. It's impossible to do a two parter, I heard that someone was talking about that we’re doing a two parter, but that’s the first I’ve heard about it. We can only do them one at a time, they take six months to shoot. You can’t write one movie thinking about the next. All we’re trying to do is get the next one sorted out and it’ll stand on its own and if I’m able I’ll do another one after that.” Daniel Craig is also trying to get Sam Mendes to direct BOND 24. “If Sam were to do the next one, which would be great, we have set up an awful lot of ideas and we have still got other things to play around with. I love working with him. He allows me to relax and get on with my job.” Apparently, MGM told the press that “Daniel has made it very clear that Sam should direct the next film. He and Sam have been plotting out story ideas but no executive has given them a yes yet.” EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment are delighted to announce that SKYFALL has taken an extraordinary £37.2 million in its opening week, overtaking Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 to secure the biggest 7 day gross of all time in UK box office history.
SKYFALL, the 23rd James Bond adventure, continuing the longest running and most successful franchise in film history, opened in 587 cinemas across the UK and Ireland on Friday 26th October. It will release in the US on November 9th. In response to the amazing 7 day figures, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said “We are very grateful to the Bond fans and all UK cinema audiences for making SKYFALL the biggest opening week ever during our 50th anniversary year.” “The continued record-breaking success of this film is a true testament to all involved and the global power of this 50 year old franchise” said Gary Barber, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, MGM. “We couldn’t be more proud of the critical and commercial reaction SKYFALL has received,” said Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing and Distribution. “The results are a true testament to the 50 year legacy of James Bond. The best is still yet to come in the UK and all around the world.” Thank you, Bond fans everywhere, for making SKYFALL such an unprecedented success. |
