When Barbara Broccoli and John Logan attended the Institute of Directors event in Dublin last week they were asked by fans whether Ireland would be considered for a possible location inthe next James Bond movie.
Of course, what would you say if you were surrounded by thousands of Irish Bond fans? Barbara replied that if John Logan includes Ireland in the script “we’ll come here. Ireland is gorgeous. I’d love to come here and make a Bond film.” An Ireland paper read "Hopes rise next James Bond film will be shot in Ireland" as its headline. John Logan is currently at the long process of writing the script for BOND 24 which is not due for release until fall 2015. According to the Daily Mail (a reliable Bond news resource), Naomi Harris will play an even larger part in BOND 24 (2015). An extract from the report can be seen below. Director Sam Mendes, Craig, and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are all big fans of Naomie’s and don’t want her to be too desk-bound, as other Moneypennys have been. Since the report, Bond fans have expressed their concerns over Bond becoming more reliant on other agents rather than working alone a-la Dr. No and From Russia With Love.
Would you like to see Miss Moneypenny in a bigger role? Get in touch and have your say! The blockbuster video game Grand Theft Auto V was released on 17th September and earned Rockstar an unsurprising $1 billion on its first 24 hours of opening. Those who have played the game will notice a few references to James Bond. First of all, a sign post points to "J's Bond". It is currenlty unknown what "J's Bond" is advertising.
Later, in a mission where Franklin must dress in a white tuxedo, the player must steal a JB 700 car, moulded on an Aston Martin DB5, complete with gadgets. A female counterpart screams and jolts the steering as the player is obliged to use the car's kitted out gadgetry which includes tire spikes and an ejector seat. The car is also available to purchase. "Bond 24" news is slow. Sam Mendes is buzzing over his theatre work whilst Daniel Craig is rehersing his role in the Broadway play 'Betrayal'. Bond fans from across the world have taken a poll to determine where they would like to see 007 go in his 24th adventure.
However, only three countries were entered in the poll. These three countries have never been visited by Bond on screen. Almost half the participants chose Australia (48%) with Canada (28%0 coming second and Africa (24%) last. It is possible that the producers would be seeking out India once again, since they narrowly missed out on shooting the pre-title sequence of "Skyfall" there. Production was shifted to Turkey to prevent any delays but the producers expressed their desire to shoot in India in the future. 1983's "Octopussy" took place almost soley in India and whilst negotiations were being made about a possible 5th Brosnan film, India was thrown in the hat again. Where would you like to see James Bond go? ...Send us a tweet German film director Roland Emmerich has expressed his desire to direct a Bond film in the future. Known for his work on "2012" and "Independence Day", Emmerich was interviewed by Yahoo movies and said that he liked the new direction Mendes took with "Skyfall" and would like to give it a go. "Especially after the last one [Skyfall], because they've finally had the guts to go in different moods. I think a classic Bond film, no. But if they would let me do my Bond film the same way they let English director Sam Mendes do his Bond film, then that'd be interesting. Have a word with Barbara Broccoli when you get back." Emmerich was once considered to direct "Die Another Day" back in 2002 but he lost out to Lee Tamahori. Emmerich is spending his time on the sequel to "Independene Day", and not to mention Sam Mendes has already signed on to direct "Bond 24" in 2015.
