Editors from media outlets around the world flew in to Monaco yesterday for the launch of the new 007 fragrance, Ocean Royale. The event, held at the exclusive Chateau Eza high in the hills above the principality was hosted by Caterina Murino who played Solange in CASINO ROYALE and fragrance expert Will Andrews. Ocean Royale "has an invigorating freshness with an underpinning of masculine woods," said Andrews. "It is the essence of Bond's masculine side".
Caterina Murino talked of her time as a Bond actress and the effect it had on her life: "It gave me the opportunity to discover the world," she said. "I was in Bond for two minutes and it completely changed my life." Ocean Royale is currently available at Harrods James Bond screenwriter John Logan was interviewed by The Telegraph the other day about his latest project. As usual, they managed to get some info about BOND 24.
"[Logan] broke with Bond tradition by whipping up a homoerotic charge between Daniel Craig’s captive 007 and Javier Bardem’s louche rogue agent and also by making the encounter unusually protracted. “When I wrote that scene – two men speaking in a room for 10 pages – I thought 'There’s no way we’re going to be able to do this,’ but Sam Mendes said 'Yes, go for it’ and I think the audience really embraced it.” "He has signed up to script two more films, even though Mendes has stepped aside from the next one, citing other commitments, and promises more where that came from: “There are lots more ideas for Bond I want to explore,” he enthuses. “We can deal in a complex way with these characters.” At an MGM investor conference call, the big cat announced a great influx of profits thanks to Bond and "The Hobbit" which both grossed over $1b at the box office.
Said CEO Gary Barber: "We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released." Some media outlets took this to mean that Bond would be back in late 2014, but a Summer 2015 release might be more realistic, and still consistent with the slate that Barber suggested. "It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara's very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie, directing SKYFALL was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond." Bond's next director has yet to be decided, but producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli had nothing but praise for Mendes: "We thoroughly enjoyed working with Sam. He directed our most successful Bond movie ever, SKYFALL. We would have loved to have made the next film with him but completely respect his decision to focus on other projects and hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with him again."
