New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. WARNING: THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS London Chase Scene continued SKYFALL is well underway as we draw a close to the scenes shot in London. The team will be focussing on scenes in Turkey from now on. As reported in February, Daniel Craig was seen running through the streets of London chasing after the main villain, who's name we can confirm as SILVA. This time, both Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem were on set along with hundreds of extras. {SPOILER} Whitehall was closed off during filming. Northumberland Avenue had fake sign posts above a disused exit of Charing Cross station so that it appeared to be 'Embankment station'. Silva (Javier Bardem) exited Whitehall via the side and quietly escaped disguised as a metropolitan police officer. We believe that he caused the chaos in the streets. With this disguise, it could be the twist that is said to appear in the film. A video below shows Daniel Craig's stunt double in action while Daniel Craig continues to chase the villain down. Rememberance poppies are also seen on vehicles, which could mean that this film is set when the film is released (in October/November) {SPOILER} The crew were said to be moving out to Turkey last Wednesday, but there has currently been no reports of them arriving yet. The true meaning of SKYFALL Last month, the crew were in Scotland where they filmed a chase sequence with Daniel Craig and Judi Dench in the famous Aston Martin DB5. The crew have reconstructed an old Scottish estate which is going to be blown up in the film. This building will be called 'SKYFALL Lodge' and is supposed to be the home of James Bond, where he grew up. James Bond takes M there after they flee London and he talks of his childhood, before being attacked by Silva. Similarities between SKYFALL and other Bond films We decided to take a moment and think of where the writers of SKYFALL got their ideas from. - Silva's desguide resembles Kananga's Mr Big desguise in Live & Let Die - There is a lot of action on trains. From Russia With Love's main fight sequence was completely based on a train, and the battle between Tee Hee and Bond in Live & Let Die were also set on a train. - Istanbul was a filming location used in From Russia With Love and The World Is Not Enough - The Whitehall pillars which are used in SKYFALL relates to the hall of pillars in From Russia With Love, where Krilencu is killed. - The MI6 Head Quarters blowing up resembles the explosion in The World Is Not Enough pre-title sequence - The character of M plays a larger role in the film, like in The World Is Not Enough As you can see, quite a lot of the inspiration comes from Live & Let Die and From Russia With Love. It makes sense because Live & Let Die is Sam Mendes' favorite Bond film and From Russia With Love is Daniel Craigs favorite. Poll for SKYFALL theme An unnofficial poll was started on IGN last week about popular artists to sing the new song for SKYFALL. Musicians from U2, Florence + the Machine, Rihanna, Guns N Roses, Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, Take That, Plan B and Noel Callagher. The Foo Fighters came third after Muse beat them in second. Of course, Adele is currently in the lead. Actor joins as SKYFALL's Evil Henchman Hopefully, we will get a good iconic henchman (like Jaws or Oddjob). Luckily, a new actor confirmed his involvement in the series last week. Swedish actor Jens Hultén will be playing henchman to Javier Bardem's SILVA. He said that he had already been shooting scenes for the film, which we presume took place at Pinewod Studios. "It's obviously a great honor to participate in "Skyfall". Bond movies are huge productions with some of the greatest talents both in front and behind the camera as it is fantastic to be part of." James Bond's ancestory As the crew prepare the new building in SKYFALL, several grave-stones were made for the chapel named SKYFALL-Lodge. James Bond's mother (Monique Delacroix) and father (Andrew Bond) will be amongst these head-stones; as well as Robert Bond, Celia Bond, Valentine Bond and Kathleen Bond. On Monique Delacroix's stone the latin phraze "Mors Ultima Linea Rerum Est" is engraved; which means "Death is Everything's Final Limit". James Bond's family was briefly mentioned in Goldeneye (1995), but the films haven't gone into as much depth as SKYFALL. Gallery

More information on train sequence in Turkey Last week we reported the train sequence that was being prepared in Turkey. We now know that the sequence is scheduled to begin shooting this Wednesday. Turkish officials have said that the film will be using lots of trains; a good reference to Sam Mendes' favorite film Live & Let Die and Daniel Craig's favorite film From Russia With Love. Some more pictures are available in the gallery. Extras wanted for Istanbul scenes A total of 25-day shoot, during 10 days extras will appear as tourists in the Bazaar. Communication: Çınar Türker (0090 535 389 75 69) This has been rumoured to be featured in the films' pre-title sequence Tim Readings reveals some more scenes Tim Readings is a fire risk and insurenace cover assessor who leaked a few spoilers for us. These scenes will most likely involve fire (hence his involvement in the film). He was quizzed about it on twitter, to which he replied "Top secret stuff! All I can say is: Bond's house, gas, kerosene, helicopter, grenades & 120000L water on standby..." Later that day, he closed his Twitter account. Gallery

New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. The Second Official Photo 'Its raining M' The SKYFALL were shooting again in the streets of London, again these scenes will be near the beginning of the film. M's Jaguar was spotted in St Margaret's Street by Parliament Square. This scene is believed to be a follow-up from the driving shots that were filmed a last week. A rain-maker rig was fixed in Cadogan Square for a realistic downpour during the scene. Judi Dench was on location as well as her double. The scene was shot at night and M was leaving a building and quickly ran into the Jaguar. Images can be seen in the gallery. SKYFALL at IMAX It was revealed last week that SKYFALL will be shown in IMAX with the films official release. This will be the first time any Bond film has ever been shown here. "SKYFALL will be the cool, must-see event release of the fall, and releasing the film in IMAX only reinforces that," said Rory Bruer, President, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing and Distribution. "It is fitting that with SKYFALL marking the 50th Anniversary of the James Bond franchise, we celebrate in epic style and what could be more larger-than-life than IMAX joining the festivities," said Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officers of MGM. "It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of this legendary franchise, whose iconic characters and electrifying action will only be amplified in the IMAX format," said Greg Foster, Chairman and President, IMAX Filmed Entertainment. "We are excited to rejoin forces with our friends at Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM and so pleased to work with Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli, and Sam Mendes to bring their vision to IMAX and Bond fans around the world." Naomi Harris; the stunt woman Naomi Harris and Berenice Marlohe have been interviewed about their experiences so far during the production of SKYFALL. "I’m trying to do all my own stunts," Harris told reporters. "I’ve done them all so far. In a couple of weeks we’ve got another big stunt thing, so I don’t know if I can do all of them. But I’m trying to!" Berenice Marlohe says that she is still waiting for the chance to have some romantic scenes with Craig. "I certainly hope I’ll kiss Daniel Craig," the French actress told Total Film. "I will have Sam [Mendes] change everything if not!" A Range Rover for Bond Car Magazine has recently announced that the Land Rover Defender will be used in SYKFALL. The car will be driven by agent Eve (Naomi Harris). "We are really going to test that car, do things to it it's not normally designed for. Some of the stuff is so hairy and dangerous, we have to use a stuntman in a pod on the roof to do the driving. We've had to crank up the suspension, and the Defender is going to work very, very hard." The Defender was last used careering off the rock of Gibraltar in The Living Daylights 1987. The Rave Rover was last used in Quantum of Solace. As well as the Range Rover, other known vehicles to be used in SKYFALL are M's Jaguar, which has recently been spotted in London, James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 and several VW Beetles which were rigged to blow up in one of the scenes we believe has already been shot. WARNING: THIS BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS Bond at BAFTAs Tom Jones opened the BAFTAs by performing his song Thunderball. He spoke of the time he was approached to do the song "I was so thrilled when John Barry and Don Black asked me to do 'Thunderball', because Shirley Bassey had just done 'Goldfinger' and Matt Munro had just done 'From Russia With Love'. It was great, especially then, because I was a young man in my 20s. I am glad I did it!" New Bond girls Naomi Harris and Berenice Marlohe attended the event too. Naomi Harris was interviewed about her time on the set. "It's amazing working with Daniel, he's such a hard worker. After shooting he does two hours of training. Incredible and an inspiration to us both." Judi Dench and Ralph Fiennes were nominated for awards. Judi Dench was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in "My Week With Marilyn" and Ralph Fiennes was nominated for Outstanding Debut By A Director for his film "Coriolanus". Vauxhall bridge filming As planned, the crew were back in London this week shooting scenes with Judi Dench and Rory Kinnear. The scene appears to be taking place in the back of a Jaguar as M and Tanner drive back to MI6 Headquarters. The car was on a tow trailer with cameras rigged to the front windscreen. The shoot followed over to Sunday where they spent over 4 hours shooting with the road closed. {SPOILER} The action shot on the bridge will be seen at the beginning of the film, when M's car is blocked from getting close to the famous MI6 building by police. M and Tanner watch in horror as an explosion rocks the area. The fireball will be a digital effect, unlike The World Is Not Enough when the production built a large scale replica of the front of the building in order to blow a hole in it. {SPOILER} Stunt at Charing Cross A very impressive stunt took place inside Charing Cross station last week where a camera was used to film inbetween an escalator along the old Jubilee Line which has been closed from the public for a while. This scene is believed to be part of the foot chase sequence, where either Bond or Bardem's character slides down the moving stairs. New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall.
Ben Collins returns as James Bond's stunt driver Ben Collins returns to the crew to continue his role as stunt driver. He was spotted in London dressed in the same outfit as Daniel Craig was last week and was seen driving a car with the crew. Ben Collins was most famous for revealing his identity as 'The Stig' on the British television show Top Gear in his autobiography. SKYFALL shoots in Scotland James Bond went back to his roots this week when the crew headed off to Scotland to shoot scenes in the shadow of the mountain Buachaille Etive Mor ('The great herdsman of etive when translated.) The Daily Mail who reported the shoot also said that Aston Martin DB5's were part of a car chase which took off throughout the A82. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were on set a little later in a location just an hours walk from the A82. Ben Collins was also on set driving an Aston Martin DB5 towards an old estate. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were later spotted at Glasgow airport heading back to London. The last time Scotland was used in a Bond film was during 'The World Is Not Enough' in 1999. The latest clapper-board photograph shows that they have been filming scene 137, which comes after the sequence we saw a few months ago with Daniel Craig in the DB5 in London. We believe that this scene has something to do with James Bond's heritage. In the Ian Fleming novels, James Bond's father lived in Scotland. _New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall. Bond Is Back! Daniel Craig in Range Rover scenes
A small crew were spotted in Smithfield Market in London to shoot an extension of the scenes that were filmed near there on the first day of principal photography. A stunt driver had control of the Range Rover from the roof whilst Daniel Craig was in the back seat. The outside of the vehicle was rigged with cameras to film the actors inside. Heron Tower filming, London SkyFall is now well underway as the team were busy shooting scenes in London. This scene focussed on the Heron Tower which is believed to be doubling as a skyscraper in Shanghai. The Heron Tower can be seen near the famous Gherkin. Daniel Craig and the crew were spotted outside the Liverpool Street Tube Station. Exterior shots and the crew were photographed by Twitter user @jellideels. These images can be viewed in the gallery below. 'Nightfire' at Pinewood Studios Ok, no reference to the video game, but a catering truck for the crew at Pinewood Studios caught alight on January 27th at around 10:00pm. 30 Fire fighters were called to the incident. "The lorry was well alight, with flames reaching the top of the adjacent building." "Crews from Gerrards Cross and Slough used a hose reel and main jet to tackle the fire, which was now spreading to the roof from becoming fully involved and the incident from becoming much more serious." At 1am, the fire was put out and the area was secured. We only hope it didn't affect the interior sets. Brecon Beacons, Wales scrapped The BBC reported last week that scenes will be taking place in Brecon Beacons in Wales. They have now reported that they will not be filming here due to "logistical filming factors'. These rumours were never confirmed in the first place. Chase sequence in Tower Hill The SkyFall team have been busy again, this time, Daniel Craig was yet again racing through the streets of London. He is wearing a dirty suit and an earpiece; suggesting that this scene carries on from the one they started earlier on in the month. In this scene James Bond runs down the street, grabs a taxi and gets chased by cops. In one image, Daniel Craig is seen weilding his Walther PPK. SIS building is back for MI6 Head-Quarters The crew were shooting around London today on the Vauxhall Bridge that goes over the river Thames. It is also the location used in the most of the Pierce Brosnan films as the MI6 Head-Quarters, but has not featured in a Bond film since Die Another Day in 2002. It appears to be making a comeback in SKYFALL. Buses have will be delayed between 6:30am and 17:30 on Saturday 4th February. Helicopter filming has also been reported to take place. These scenes will be shot between 17:00 and 22:00. Reports have stated that over the next few weeks, Horse Guards Avenue, Whitehall Court and Whitehall Place will be closed for the filming of SKYFALL on Saturday 18th February. __New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall.
Skyfall shoots in Shanghai Last week, the second unit team were spotted in Shanghai, China where they filmed amongst the neon highways. Filming lasted for three days and the crew were joined by Quantum of Solace stunt man Mark Higgins, who has previously won the British Rally Championship three times. Daniel Craig and the rest of the crew will not be going to China for filming. Interior sets have been created at Pinewood Studios. A glimpse of this set can be seen on the official 007.com introduction video by Michael G Wilson. Filming already started in for this scene at the Ascot Racecourse, doubling for the international airport in Shanghai. Berenice Marlohe on Severine (Interview) "It's very difficult in France to get access to castings when you don't have any relationships, I totally heard by chance that they were doing the casting for a James Bond movie, and that one of the auditions was taking place in Paris. So I tried myself to contact every name involved in the movie I could possibly find on the IMDb! I finally managed to get the first audition in Paris, then I did the second in London with Sam Mendes, and then the third was with Sam and Daniel Craig, again in London. And then I was cast!" Berenice Marlohe on her favourite Bond girl, Famke Janssen (Xenia Onnatopp from GoldenEye) "She was so funny, so bold and so interesting!" she commented. "When you see all the Bond Girls, they have actually been very varied. So I'm working on creating a character as I would for any movie, which is to make her interesting for me" Naomi Harris was interviewed last week about her character and she confirmed that her character has no involvement with Miss Moneypenny whatsoever. She was prompted about Eve's surname and whether it was going to be a gag like Onnatopp or Pussy Galore, she said "Will her name make people laugh? Um, yes. Yes, I suppose it will." Lift shaft filming? The latest clapper-board picture from the official 007 Twitter page reveals that they are filming some scenes from the movie in an industrial area. The image appears as though it has been taken next to a lift shaft. The fact that this location appears quite dark suggests that this scene will be appearing just before the scene in the club in Shanghai. The scene's reference number from the club was V64BA and the number from the latest clapper-board scene by a lift shaft is V63E. _New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall.
Chase sequence shot in London After filming in Trinity Square and the Old Royal Navy College, Daniel Craig was spotted running through the streets of London, in costume with an ear piece. 007Bond understands that this scene shows James Bond chasing the villain (Javier Bardem) after they get off the train. Javier Bardem has currently not been seen so far during filming. 50th Anniversary SKYFALL Premiere Celebration As part of the release of SKYFALL in 2012 the usual premiere is held in London. This time, celebrating the 50th Anniversary all six actors will be joined by some of the glamorous Bond girls to celebrate the 5 decades. This will be the first time that all six actors have got together. George Lazenby, Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton joined together with Pierce Brosnan back when Die Another Day was released in 2002, which celebrated the 40th Anniversary. There have been no further details on all of the Bond girls which will be joining them but we understand that Ursula Andress (Honey Ryder) and Eva Green (Vesper) will be attending the event. “It’s an astonishing record for any character to endure for five decades in showbiz but I’ll bet this: the franchise is such a phenomenon that in another 50 years time a whole new bunch of actors and their leading ladies will be gathering for another party when James Bond becomes a centenarian.” Daniel Craig Its Eve, Not Moneypenny After months of rumours from the Daily Mail and online users, Naomi Harris has stated in an interview last week that she will not be playing Miss Moneypenny. She says "The idea of me being Moneypenny was a good, racy rumour. But Eve is not remotely office-bound. She gets to see plenty of action. That meant a lot of gun training. I’m such a pacifist that I never thought I’d be excited about guns, but I absolutely loved it. The weapons training I’d done on Miami Vice was with real bullets, but this time I was shooting blanks. I did two hours three times a week for three months, mostly working with a Walther PPK, a very light, very beautiful, ladylike gun. To be honest, I don’t think I’d be very good at such a role, what drew me to this was the opportunity to play a new kind of Bond Girl. We are Bond Girls who are multi-faceted, intelligent and capable," said Naomie of the roles herself and Bernice Marlohe will play in "Skyfall". "It’s not just the women who have changed. James Bond himself has changed and Daniel Craig has been a very big part of that. He’s brought depth and humanity to the role. He’s so layered in a way that other Bonds just weren’t, because nothing seemed to touch them. Daniel’s Bond is very much touched by his relationships. In 2012, there’s a need to have female characters who are equal to that. Otherwise it would be totally imbalanced and no one would care about the relationships Bond has. I love the way it’s developed in that way. Those Bond Girls in the Sixties and Seventies might have been good back then but they wouldn’t be seen as very PC now. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that we’re going for a feminist take on the Bond Girl, because that has so many connotations to different people. But I would say that we are Bond Girls who are multi-faceted, intelligent and capable. In the past, the Bond Girls were all over Bond and didn’t have a life outside that relationship. That’s not the case in this film." Daily Mirror claims seaside filming A recent report by the Daily Mirror has said that the budget for Skyfall will be cut, resulting in more scenes from England seasides. "They are using various UK beaches. Skyfall will also rely heavily on special effects and advanced sets at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire." A 'source' from the paper states "To say some of the cast and crew are a bit gutted is an understatement. Originally six different countries were selected to film certain scenes but after several technical and financial problems, it was decided to scale back and just use Turkey as the sole foreign location. As well as Pinewood’s incredible facilities, the UK has an array of amazing, untapped resources, and some stunning beaches particularly along the south coast and parts of Wales. While Bognor is hardly the most exotic of locations, it is important for the franchise that they support British industry, and give something back. Everyone is confident this will be one of the best Bonds ever." Has the main plot to SkyFall been revealed? On Thursday night, a new clapperboard image was released on the official 007 Twitter page. This time, fans have noticed something. It looks like what appears to be meteorites entering the Earths atmosphere at an astronomical speed. Perhaps this is what 'SkyFall' means. It hasn't yet been confirmed but it does look promising. However, the caption given to the image was 'Graphic action', perhaps this is just the filming of the opening credits against a fake background. The swirls appear to be similar to the ones used in the opening sequence of Quantum Of Solace. Take a look at the gallery below and let us know what you think. _New blog posts every week with the latest information on SkyFall.
Filming in Charring Cross Most of the filming this week happened in Pinewood Studios. However the crew are finishing off a scene they set up a few weeks ago at Charring Cross Station. It is understood that this scene is where Daniel Craig will be exiting the station to the streets while chasing the main villain portrayed by Javier Bardem. Bond starts the New Year with a bang! Quite literally in fact. After Craig and Dench were spotted with the crew in London last week, Land Rovers were being prepared to be blown up for the next few scenes. It is understood that this scene will be taking place in Greenwich, London. A total of 8 vehicles are going to be demolished during the filming later on today. A sneaky shot of one of the Land Rovers can be seen in the gallery below. Earlier last year, the team were purchasing lots of VW Beetles which are going to be blown up too. Thomas Newman signs on as composer David Arnold who has composed the soundtrack for five James Bond films (Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum Of Solace), but now he is unable to work on SkyFall because he is currently the Music Director of the London Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies. Instead, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced that new composer Thomas Newman will score 2012's SkyFall. “We are delighted to confirm that Thomas Newman will score SKYFALL. Thomas is one of the most respected and successful composers, he has a long history of working with Sam Mendes and we look forward to welcoming him into the Bond family,” said Michael Wilson. Sam Mendes and Newman have worked together on previous films. Newman said “I’m incredibly excited to be working with Sam again. It’s a real thrill to be able to collaborate on something as special as a Bond movie.” Canary Warf - Behind the scenes After filming began in Canary Warf in December, a few sneaky snap-shots of Daniel Craig and the film crew leaked over the internet. Today, we have the first official photograph of this scene Gallery |
